One of the small drawbacks within the Czech Republic is the spread of corruption that negatively impacts political trust as well as the Czech economy.
The politics of the Czech Republic take the form of a multiparty system and has enjoyed political stability in the last three decades.

Formally called the Czech Republic, Czechia, which translates to the land of the Czechs is known for its many historical sites such as the Charles Bridge, its luscious nature in the Bohemia province as well as historically being intertwined with Slovakia. Several regions within Czechia were ruled by local kingdoms until the start of the 17th century. After losing the 30 years’ war, it became a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of the first world war, a union between Czechia and Slovakia was officially established in 1918. Before the start of the second world war, Nazi Germany had annexed several territories from Czechoslovakia and after the start of the second world war it became fully occupied by the German army. After the defeat of Nazi Germany by communist Russia, a communist government was established. This government lasted until the collapse of the Soviet Union. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the coexistence between Czechia and Slovakia had failed and both states agreed to go further as separate states.
Its geography is characterized by having high mountains along its borders with hills and low-lying planes within its heartland. Its forested area is spread out throughout Czechia with the remainder consisting of grass plains. It borders a total of four states with Poland to its northeast, Slovakia to its east, Austria to its south and Germany to its west and northwest.
With a total landmass of just under 80,000 square kilometers or 30,600 square miles the Czech Republic is slightly smaller than the United Arab Emirates and slightly larger than Panama.
It has around it has around two percent of its landmass covered in water is estimated to be 1628 square kilometers or 633 square miles making it the 95th state with the largest surface water.

There are several lakes scattered throughout the Czech Republic as well as many rivers with the Moldau and the Elbe being its largest. The main source of fresh water is groundwater.
Because the Czech Republic is a landlocked state and located in the center of Europe, it enjoys a continental climate with some influence coming from the Atlantic Ocean. The average temperature is 7.2 degrees Celsius or 44.9 degrees Fahrenheit which makes the Czech Republic the 175th warmest state in the world.
During the summer period, the average temperature goes up to 10.4 degrees Celsius or 50.7 degrees Fahrenheit. Its summer spans from June to August.
During the winter period, from December until February, the average temperature drops down to 2.5 degrees Celsius or 36.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Czech Republic receives a low amount of precipitation compared to neighbouring states. As the 131st state with the highest amount of rainfall, it receives just under 70 centimetres or 27.4 inches of rainfall per year. This mainly occurs during the summer period where the amount of rainfall is three times as high as during the winter.
The capital of the Czech Republic, Prague is home to 1.2 million people. The capital that is closest located to Prague is Berlin Germany with a distance of 251 kilometers or 156 miles. The capital that is furthest removed from Prague is Wellington New Zealand with a distance of just over 11,000 miles or just over 18,000 kilometers.
The economy of the Czech Republic is an open market economy with a focus on exports. The largest industry in the Czech Republic is the car manufacturing industry, but its computer industry has grown significantly in the last decade. Its economy is heavily interlinked with the German economy which is responsible for more than 30 percent of exported goods from the Czech Republic. This means that a large share of its imports also comes from Germany with China being its second largest import partner. Combined they represent 40 percent of total imports.

Its GDP per square kilometer is just over US$3 million or US$7.8 million per square mile. This makes Czech Republic the 39th state with the highest GDP per surface area.
The average income of the inhabitants of the Czech Republic is US$22,400 which makes it the 38th highest in the world.

The Czech Republic is the 84th most populous state in the world with a population of 10.7 million people. The majority within the Czech Republic are ethnic Czechs. The second largest population are Ukrainians and Slovaks that remained within Czechia are the third largest population.
Its population density is the 64th highest in the world with 135 people per square kilometer or 350 people per square mile.
Around 900,000 people, or 8.5 percent of the population has migrated from the Czech Republic. The vast majority of these people have emigrated to Germany for economic reasons.
Immigration to the Czech Republic is largely due to job opportunities. Because of its automobile and industrial sectors, the need for medium and low skilled labour has attracted several thousand people in the last decade. It is estimated that 4.7 percent of the population, or just over 500,000 people have migrated to the Czech Republic. This makes the Czech Republic the 59th state with the highest amount of immigration representing 0.2 percent of total global migration.
With the 29th highest literacy rate, or 98.9 percent, the Czech Republic has one of the best funded educational systems in the world. Children from the age of six until adulthood can enjoy free education which ranges from primary school to university.
The Czech Republic has a developed healthcare system. The average life expectancy is 79.9 years with women reaching 82.4 years a men reaching 77.3 years. Compared to its region it has a high number of preventable deaths that are mostly related to lifestyle choices such as smoking and drinking and overeating.
Even though Christianity has been the dominant religion until the 17th century, after losing the 30 years’ war against the Holy Roman Empire and the Spanish Empire, there was a growing anti-Catholic sentiment. Other Christian denominations also declined during and after the cold war.
Even though the Czech Republic is surrounded by Christian majority states, its own Christian population is just over 25 percent. This makes the Czech Republic the 136th most Christian state in the world.

The number of Muslims has quadrupled in the last 30 years, but it is currently ranked as the 166th most Islamic state in the world. Islam is practiced by 0.1 percent of the population with only two mosques that are located in its two largest cities Prague and Brno.
Around 0.2 percent of the Czech population adheres to Buddhism. These are mainly Vietnamese immigrants that represent a small minority within the Czech Republic. Vietnamese as well as some Korean places of worship can be mainly found in Prague and Brno.
Hinduism is represented by 0.04 percent of the population. The Hare Krishna movement and the Dharma movement are the largest Hindu communities within the Czech Republic.
The amount of Jewish people in the Czech Republic dwindled during the second world war. During this time, the Jewish population was marginalized, and their property was seized. After the second world war, a large portion of the Jewish population migrated from Europe to the Americas. Currently, the Jewish population represents 0.05 percent.
Around 0.07 percent of the population adheres to other religions. These are mainly ancient religions that are revived such as Wiccan religions.
Around 51.2 percent of the population does not adhere to any religion. This makes the Czech Republic one of the most irreligious states in the world.
